[19] A lawyer who practises law in that jurisdiction under paragraphs (c) or (d) or otherwise is subject to the disciplinary authority of that jurisdiction. See Rule 8.5(a). Upon successful completion of the second state examination, admission to the bar is completed and the person may apply to be admitted to the bar or to be employed by the state as a judge or prosecutor. [75] Lawyers (advokat) must be admitted to Norway, they are admitted by the authorities, provided they have an LL.M (Master of Law) (before 2008- cand. jur.– candidatus juris) and two years of practice as an assistant lawyer (advokatfullmektig) or two years of practice as a police prosecutor (politiadvokat or politifullmektig) or deputy judge (dommerfullmektig) and some minor formalities. While the old cand. Juris was usually a 6-year degree, the LL.M. is a 5-year degree. Membership of the Bar (Nynorsk: Advokatforeningen) is optional. Thirty-two states and the District of Columbia require state bar membership to practice law. [17] These states have a so-called mandatory, uniform or integrated bar. A lawyer admitted abroad may be registered in the United Register of Advocates of Ukraine and thus practice law in Ukraine if he or she applies through a regional bar association.

[118] [119] Foreign legal qualifications generally do not entitle the holder to vocational training in Germany. Holders of a foreign law degree must pass an equivalency test in accordance with ยง 112a DRiG before they can be admitted to a German legal internship. [74] To be admitted to the Bar, one must obtain a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Zimbabwe or the Midlands State University, register with the Law Society of Zimbabwe, obtain an articling certificate, and be registered with the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. Practice certificates issued by the Law Society of Zimbabwe must be renewed annually. Holders of diplomas outside Zimbabwe must have obtained them from certain institutions and must pass an examination. [1] (d) Exceptions and exclusions: Whether or not it is a legal practice, the following provisions are permitted: To practice the profession of lawyer in Tunisia, natural persons must be registered on the register of lawyers. Registration requires that a person has had Tunisian nationality for at least five years, resides in Tunisia, is between 20 and 50 years old, has no criminal record, has never been declared bankrupt, and has met all national service requirements. Candidates must be in possession of a certificate of aptitude for the profession of lawyer from the Higher Institute of Legal Professions, unless they hold the title of professor of law from a Tunisian or foreign university, in which case they may obtain an exemption from this requirement. Newly admitted lawyers must complete a one-year internship and can only plead before the lower courts during this period.

After one year, they can apply for full admission to the bar. [1] (f) If a person who is not authorized to act as a lawyer practises as a lawyer, that person is liable to civil and criminal penalties in that jurisdiction. Botswana requires a Bachelor of Laws to practice law. The Bachelor of Laws is obtained through a five-year bachelor`s degree program, with the fifth year serving as an articling period. Upon completion of a Bachelor of Laws program, candidates may practice law without the additional step of a final bar examination. [2] A person may be called to the Bar of the Cayman Islands in one of three ways. A newly qualified individual may be qualified by holding a Bachelor of Laws from the Cayman Islands Law School or equivalent, or a non-legal degree with the Common Professional Examination/Graduate Diploma in Law, and then completing the 9-month Professional Practice Course (“CPD”) followed by eighteen months as an article writer at a law firm. Under the Legal Practitioners (Students) Regulations (2012 Revision), only Caymanians or persons with Cayman status or approved by the Cabinet of the Cayman Islands are permitted to conduct the CPP.

However, for this paragraph to apply, the lawyer admitted to practise in that jurisdiction must actively participate in the representation of the client and share responsibility for it.
